The 2006-07 Liga BBVA season was one of the most thrilling campaigns in Spanish football history. At the top of the table, Real Madrid had a fantastic campaign and finished as champions with 83 points, two points ahead of second placed Deportivo de La Coruña. Los Blancos were in fantastic form throughout the season, scoring 90 goals and conceding only 33. They also had a strong defensive record, keeping 14 clean sheets. Meanwhile, Deportivo de La Coruña put up a good fight for the title and managed to secure second place with 81 points, just missing out on the championship.

Valencia came third in the table with 75 points, having a strong defensive record and only conceding 37 goals. Fierce rivals Barcelona also put in a solid performance, finishing fourth with 73 points, just two points behind Valencia. They scored 85 goals and kept 11 clean sheets, but were unable to challenge for the title.

Villarreal rounded off the top five with 71 points, securing their first ever Champions League qualification. Atletico Madrid were sixth with 63 points, while Sevilla finished seventh with 62 points. Athletic Bilbao, Racing Santander, and Mallorca were the other three teams that qualified for the UEFA Cup.

At the bottom of the table, Celta Vigo and Levante finished 18th and 19th respectively, resulting in their relegation to the Segunda Division. Osasuna and Getafe were also relegated, finishing 17th and 16th respectively.
